Lachlan's Story

Lachie Milne started paddling in 1993 and a year later at 15 made his international debut while on exchange in Germany. Milne, now fluent in German, trained at a German club with Olympic Champion, Thomas Smidt. Milne moved to Sydney to prepare for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games but narrowly missed selection, instead providing commentary for NBC.

Milne won his first national K1 title in 2003 and combined with Mark Bellofiore to win the national C2 slalom after only six months training together. The unstoppable duo endured a tough Olympic qualification to make the 2004 Athens Olympic Team. Milne and Bellofiore placed 12th in the Greek capital and competed together again at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, finishing seventh.
