Kristie-Anne's Story

Despite having a childhood ambition to go to the Olympics as a gymnast, Kristie-Anne Ryder made her Olympic debut in judo in 2008. Ryder is a keen sportswoman, having also excelled in gymnastics, athletics, netball and rugby league and union during high school. Ryder had only been in senior judo teams for two years when she was chosen as the youngest member of the Australian Olympic judo team at just 18. Ryder lost in the opening round of her Beijing Olympic campaign.
