Khalen Young was the veteran of the 2012 Australian Olympic BMX team at the age of 27. The Perth rider had a debut Games littered with crashes. He crashed in his quarter-final and spent most of the night at the Team recovery centre only to crash again in the semi-finals the next day and miss the final. Young finished 15th overall.
After his competition in London was over, Young said he would retire from international racing to spend more time with his young family.
