Athletics Womens Marathon
Kate Smyth competed at Beijing 2008 in the women’s marathon, finishing 44th in a time of 2:36:10. Smyth only started serious marathon running at the age of 30. She finished seventh at the 2006 Chicago marathon gaining her selection to the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. At the Games she suffered severe dehydration and staggered over the line to finish a courageous seventh.
