Newcastle born figure skater, Kailani Craine made her Olympic debut at the PyeongChang 2018 Games in the women’s individual event at just 19 years-old.

Craine, who finished her debut Olympics in 17th, sailed through to the free skate of the Ladies Figure Skating, after a stunning short program which included a strong double axel and triple-double jump combination. Her score of 56.77 saw her qualify straight through to Free Skate.

In her free skate, Craine opened with a triple lutz – double toe loop combination, before successfully executing all twelve of her elements, giving her a score of 111.84 - a new season's best, taking her total combined score from the two programs to 168.61.

Craine, who donned her first pair of skates at the age of eight, had hugely successful 2014 and 2015 seasons that saw her claim both the national Junior and Senior Ladies Championships. In December 2016 she successfully defended her title for the third successive year. During the 2016-2017 season, Craine medalled twice, firstly with a bronze at the 31st Volvo Open Cup in Riga, Latvia before she claimed silver at the ISU Challenger event Warsaw Cup in Poland.

The youngster made her senior international debut in January 2015 where she brought home a silver medal at the MNNT Cup. Craine went on to place 12th at the 2015 Four Continents Championships in Seoul, South Korea and qualified for the free skate at the 2015 World Junior Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, placing 16th.

Craine, who splits her training time between Hunter Ice Skating Stadium, Newcastle and Los Angeles, made her World Championships debut in 2016, finishing in 27th place before improving to 24th position in 2017. Off the ice, Craine has a huge social media following with over 120k followers on her Instagram account.
