Jamie's Story

Western Australian Jamie Beadsworth is a two time Olympian. He started playing water polo at the age of 10 and showing great talent and leadership, captained the Australian Junior World Championship Team in 2005. The following year he broke his leg and spent six months in rehabilitation. He returned to form to win 2006/07 Spanish League with Club Barcelona.  At the Beijing 2008 Games, he and his sister Gemma made their Olympic debuts together. Beadsworth played centre forward for the team finishing in eighth position.

Beadsworth was selected to compete at his second Olympic Games in London in 2012. After losing three of their first four matches, the Australians knocked off Greece 13-8 to book a spot in the quarter-finals against Serbia. The Aussies took a 7-4 halftime lead before going down 8-11 to the eventual bronze medallists. Beadsworth finished with seven goals in the competition.
