Glenn's Story
1977 -
Dual Olympian Glenn Williams won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. He was one of six players on the Athens team to have played at Sydney 2000, where the team finished seventh. In Athens, Williams, a third baseman, was among Australia’s most consistent performers, hitting 0.297 for the tournament. Australia lost the final 6-2 to Cuba after defeating Japan 1-0 in the semi-finals. From New South Wales, Williams was signed as a 16-year-old by the Atlanta Braves. He has played in the US Major Leagues, making his debut for the Minnesota Twins. His father, Gary, also represented Australia in baseball.
