Emma's Story
Emma Knox won a bronze medal for Australia in women’s water polo in 2008. The Western Australian shared goalkeeping duties in the tournament with Alicia McCormack. Knox was in goals for the deciding penalty shoot-out in the bronze medal final against Hungary. The teams had been deadlocked at full time and after both periods of extra time. Knox was outstanding in the clutch. She saved twice and forced a miss from Hungary’s five penalties, including the final save which clinched the medal for Australia. The score ended 12-11. It was Knox’s second Olympics, having competed in Athens 2004 when Australia placed fourth.
