Emily's Story

Emily Rosemond made her Olympic debut as a short track speed skater at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. She contested the 1000m and 1500m, finishing 12th and 25th respectively. Rosemond's short track career was interrupted by a knee injury, allowing her just six World Cup meets in two seasons prior to the Torino Games. Before the injury, at only 16 years of age she had finished in 32nd place overall on the 2002/03 overall World Cup standings, and although it took her some time to find her form when she returned to the circuit in the 2005/06 season, she soon demonstrated her potential. Rosemond retired from short track speed skating in 2008, switching to cycling. She made her first Australian cycling team in the 2008/09 season and went on to win a bronze medal in the women's sprint at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
