Con's Story

Conrad "Con" Purser was an Australian footballer and the first West Australian selected for an Australian Olympic football squad. Born in Collie, Western Australia, on 2 August 1931, Purser spent his entire senior club career with North Perth.

A dominant defender, he helped North Perth win first-division championships in 1952, 1955 and 1956, while representing Western Australia 18 times and captaining the state on numerous occasions.

Purser was selected for the Australian squad at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games and participated in several pre-tournament matches, although he did not appear during the official Olympic tournament. His selection was nevertheless a landmark achievement for Western Australian football.
