Cheltzie's Story

Cheltzie Lee grabbed Australia's attention during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games when she was the nation' sole figure skating competitor. Lee's position on the Team was uncertain leading up to the Games but due to a quota reallocation in Australia's favour she was selected and performed beyond her expectations. Finishing 18th in the short program, Lee qualified through to the free program, placing 20th overall. The Sydney skater made her international debut at the Vienna Cup in Austria in September 2007, skating to sixth place in the short program and then fourth in the free program for an overall placing of fifth. Just 14 at the time, she scored a total of 121.21 points from the judges. At the 2009 Four Continents competition in Vancouver, in her first senior event at any level, Cheltzie produced a personal best score of 43.96 in the short program. She then repeated the effort in the free program with a personal best of 79.92 points, finishing the competition in 15th place with 123.88 points overall. Lee was a competitor at the 2007 Australian Youth Olympic Festival, finishing sixth.
