Carol's Story

Born in Perth in 1954, Carol Tomcala represented Australia in shooting at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. Tomcala was 41 when she competed in two pistol events, a mark of both her experience and her standing within Australian shooting during the 1990s.

At Atlanta, Tomcala finished equal 34th in the women’s 10-metre air pistol and 37th in the women’s 25-metre pistol. While her Olympic campaign was limited to one Games, selection in two events at the highest level remains a significant achievement. Her career also included strong performances at Oceanian level in the early 1990s, confirming her place among Australia’s accomplished female pistol shooters of that period.
