Brendan Kingman won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. From New South Wales, the right-hand hitter and fielder proved one of the most effective offensive players in the Aussie line-up in Athens. In Australia’s semi-final against Japan Kingman brought in the winning run when his sixth inning hit scored Brett Roneberg. It was the only run scored in the game. In the final, Australia lost to two-time Olympic champion Cuba, 6-2. The silver remains Australia’s only Olympic baseball medal.
