Blake's Story

Blake Gaudry contested the men’s individual trampoline competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Originally from Sydney, Gaudry was Australia’s only trampolinist at the Games and finished in 13th place on 84.255 points. In the first stage of qualification, the set routine, Gaudry produced a blistering performance to finish in 9th place with 49.260 points. He set a personal best and an Olympic record for the highest degree of difficulty in a set routine since trampoline was introduced to the Olympics in 2000. The performance had him in sight of the medals however in the voluntary routine, Gaudry fell on the seventh of his 10 skills, finishing 13th overall and missing the 8-man final.

At the 2015 World Championships Gaudry, who had gone in with a less than ideal preparation due to a stomach bug, finished in 14th place which was not automatic qualification for the Games, but was enough to give Australia a second chance to qualify for the Games at the Rio Test Event. He then secured Australia a spot with a strong performance at the Test Event in April and was later selected at the 2016 Australian Championships.

At the Games Gaudry, who was in fifth position after his opening compulsory routine, fell agonisingly short (2.21 points) of qualifying in a top eight spot when he had to re-start his second routine and finished with a score 2.5 points lower than he had been aiming for. He finished in 13th place.
