Ashley Carey

1969 -

Ashley Carey was a member of an outstanding Australian men’s hockey team that won a silver medal in Barcelona. The team performed strongly in the preliminary round, outscoring opponents 20-2 in their five matches, winning four of them and drawing the other 1-1 with eventual gold medallist, Germany. In the semi-final the Kookaburras defeated the favoured Dutch team 3-2, setting up a re-match with Germany in the final. An early German goal dented Aussie hopes, and despite a valiant second half the Australians lost 2-1.
