Anastasia's Story

Competing at her first Olympic Games in London, Rodionova lined up alongside partner Jarmila Gajdosova, who she had made the 2012 French Open quarter finals with, in the women’s doubles. The pair were knocked out in the first round of the tournament after going down 6-1, 6-4 to the sixth seeded Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.

Four years later she teamed up with sister Arina – one of nine sets of siblings on the 2016 Team. They took up the same pair from London, Makarova and Vesnina, and went down in two sets 6-1, 6-2.

Born in Russia, Anastasia began competing for Australia immediately after gaining citizenship in late 2009.

She went on a remarkable run at the Delhi Commonwealth Games winning gold in both the women’s singles and doubles, before winning silver in the mixed doubles.
