About Adam

Jindabyne local Adam Lambert grew up in the Snowy Mountains, so it was only natural he started snowboarding at a young age. The talented athlete first stepped on a snowboard at just 18 months-old after his parents built him a custom set of bindings for his small feet.

Growing up Adam specialised in slopestyle. However, after sustaining a knee injury he decided to swap to snowboard cross in 2015. At 15 Adam burst onto the snowboard cross scene, placing 15th at the 2015 Junior World Championships.

The following season he competed on the Europa Cup circuit where he claimed gold at three of the five Europa Cup events. Adam retained a no.1 ranking throughout the season and became the first Australian to win the overall Europa Cup title in men’s snowboard cross.

He made his World Cup debut in February 2017 and placed 52nd in Feldberg, Germany. The next day he finished seventh and cemented his place on the world stage. A month later Adam went one better in the placings to finish sixth in La Molina, Spain.

A World Championships debut shortly followed for him in Sierra Nevada, Spain during March 2017. Qualifying in 14th place, he brought all his skills to the fore in the second final and finished sixth overall.

After claiming his first World Cup podium in December 2017, Adam went onto make his Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018. At the Games he missed out on progressing through to the quarter-finals, finishing in 29th place after being caught up in a crash.

Adam continued his strong form into the 2018-19 season to claim his second World Cup podium in Baqueria Beret, Spain. Later that season Adam was in his second World Championships where he finished 11th.

An unfortunate season ending injury at the beginning of the 2019-20 season did not stop him from a 2020-21 return. In his comeback season he finished the World Cup tour ranked 15th in the world.

At his second Olympic Games the development in Adam from four years prior was noticeable as he put down the sixth fastest time in the seeding rounds.

His last turn in the 1/8 finals unfortunately brought him undone, which led to coming up short on a photo finish.

"Everything went to plan until the last turn," Adam said.

"It feels great to be here, it feels terrible to lose. That's boardercross. We love it."

Adam teamed up with fellow Jindabyne local Josie Baff for the Olympic debut of mixed team snowboard cross and lost in the quarter-finals.
