Adam's Story

Heavyweight boxer Adam Forsyth made his Olympic debut at the Athens 2004 Games competing in the 91kg division. Born in New Zealand, Forsyth began boxing at age 13 with his father who was the 2000 New Zealand heavyweight champion. Forsyth moved to Australia 18 months after a car accident left him with 65 stiches in his head and prevented him from competing for New Zealand at the Oceania Olympic trials for Sydney 2000. At the Athens Games, Forsyth progressed to the quarterfinals where he eventually went down to Egyptian competitor Mohamed Elsayed, 27-12.
