About Aaron

Aaron Younger started his career in competitive swimming, however, at the age of 10 he gave this up for water polo. In 2009, a 17-year-old Aaron made his international debut at the World University Games as a member of the gold medal winning Australian team. 

He made his Aussie Sharks debut at 19 when he competed at the 2011 FINA World Championships. A year later, he gained team selection for his debut Olympic Games in London, where he was the youngest member on the men's water polo team. 

Since 2010, Aaron has played in the Hungarian National League originally as member Szeged, but has since gone on to play for Szolnok and Ferencváros. Aaron is a six-time Hungarian Cup gold medallist, four-time Hungarian Super Cup gold medallist, three-time LEN European Super Cup gold medallist, three-time Hungarian League gold medallist and two-time LEN Champions League gold medallist. 

Aaron made his second Olympic appearance in Rio, as one of seven returning London Olympians. Aaron scored a total of seven goals across five games in Rio, with the Australians ultimately finishing in ninth place. 

Following this in 2018, he was a member of the World Cup silver medal-winning team and a year later claimed bronze at the World League Super Final.

Younger made his third consecutive Olympic appearance at the delayed Tokyo 2020 games, once again representing the Australian men's water polo team. The squad was drawn into a rough group stage, facing off against Spain, Croatia, and eventual gold medalists Serbia. Australia would end the group stage with a 2-3 record, with Aaron scoring twice in their 16-5 loss to Spain. 

They would however, be denied quarterfinal progression in heartbreaking fashion with Montenegro (who had equal points) progressing due to head to head record after they beat the Aussies in their opening game 15-10.
