Toby's Story
1973 -
Dual Olympian Toby Haenen was a member of the men’s 4x100m medley relay team that won a bronze medal in Atlanta. Haenen made his Olympic debut four years earlier in Barcelona, competing in the men’s 100m and 200m backstroke events. He failed to reach the final in either event. In Atlanta Haenen swam the backstroke leg in the qualifying heat of the relay, ensuring Australia’s smooth entry to the final. The other relay members were Steven Dewick, Michael Klim, Scott Miller and Phil Rogers. Haenen has stayed actively involved in the sport as a coach.
